Printing PDFs is a weird game. Sometimes a PDF just won't print. But if you use a different program to print it, it works.
In the MacLab, there are two programs which open and print PDFs: Preview and Adobe Acrobat. I think Preview is in the dock. You can find Adobe Acrobat in the Applications folder. There is a folder on the dock and to the right, which is the Applications folder and it contains every Application installed on the computer. In the Applications folder, you will find… Continue

Psychology assignments must normally be submitted both electronically and on paper.
How to electronically submit: Log into Blackboard, choose the right module, click on Assignments, click on View/Submit for the relevant assignment, click on the icon under submit, choose your file, and click Submit.
How to submit on paper: Log into the LRC site (http://lrc.psychology.bangor.ac.uk), click on the blue Assessment bubble, locate the correct assignment for the correct module and… Continue

The most convenient way of storing and organising your podcasts on your own computer is to use iTunes. iTunes is free and will work on Windows as well as on Macs.... just download it from the Apple site. What is cool about iTunes is that you can "subscribe" to your module podcasts. Here's how: when you already have iTunes installed on your computer, then go to the LRC site and click on the blue bubble for your podcasts. Near the top of the resulting screen, you'll see something like Click here… Continue

The LRC site does not work very well with some versions of Internet Explorer. If you have having trouble with the LRC site, make sure to use something other than Internet Explorer --- try Firefox. You can download Firefox for free from http://www.mozilla.com

When you print a Powerpoint file (ending in .ppt), you can print them 3 slides to a page or even 6 slides to a page, and thus save money. Here's how:
When you hit print, look at the box which comes up. Where it says "Print what:" click in there and see all the different ways you can print - Handouts (2 slides per page), Handouts (3 slides per page), etc. In some versions of Powerpoint you select Handouts under Print What, and then under the Handouts section you choose how many slides per… Continue

OK, what I mean by this is: memory sticks are great and all. Except that they get lost. And their files can go corrupt just when you need them. My top tip of the week: don't put all your faith in one memory stick. Don't let one memory stick be the one and only place where you store important files. Especially if you have your own computer, let your computer be the main storage. Sure, carry the stick around with your files on it, but the files should also be on your computer. All Bangor students… Continue

This little movie (below in the Video section) was made about 18 months ago and needs updating. But the general gist is there: how to hand in an assignment. It covers: going into Blackboard to submit the assignment electronically, printing out the front of assignment cover sheet, stapling together and submitting the paper to the wooden assignment box. I intend to update this movie because, well, the LRC site looks different now, and a few other things have changed. But this basically tells you… Continue
